I bought these amazing over-the-knee suede boots with a killer 4″ heel (I’m 5’9″!) in a cross-border shopping expedition:
The fantastic sales associate who was persuading me (to unnecessary extents) that they looked awesome on me, mentioned she observed two kinds of female shoppers: women who like to be noticed, and women who like to blend in.
I definitely qualify for the former category. I’ve learned over time to balance eclectic and loud elements of my personal style (whether it be in terms of flamboyant fabrics: mesh, PVC, leather, latex or fur and all amalgamations thereof) with an overarching elegance so as to not seem attention seeking while incorporating personality.
In my experience here at HUH Boutique, I’m consistently surprised at the variability in personal style, and how some women will do anything to mitigate attention away from themselves. For some women any skirts over the knee are too risque, open backs are taboo, and plunging necklines (even when compensated with lots of material elsewhere!) are too over-the-top sexy.
A happy and chic medium exists between being a fashion savvy woman without being a beacon of attention if that isn’t your preferred cup of tea. Here are a few fabulous outfits from our newest additions that I think satisfy the criteria:
Sheer forest green button up blouse with black piping and a form-fitting, knee length black pencil skirt
Sheer ivory bloused with attached pleather vest by Esley as seen with black stretch cigarette pant
Colour block forest green tank vest layered overtop by a black tie trench with caramel coloured buttons and black knit scarf
